The gummy bear breast implants are known to be more durable than many other silicone breast implants on the market today. The strength not only comes from the thick gel but also from the thick outer shell of the implant. The thickness of the gummy bear implant makes it less likely to rupture than that of other implants available today. If they do rupture the thick gel can hold together and still tends to hold its shape unlike that of a saline implant that will leak and absorb into the body.



Many patients that opt to have the gummy bear breast implant say that the feel of the implant is closer to that of the natural breast tissue. The gel in the implant also makes it look closer to the natural shape of the breast than that of some other implants as well. The gummy bear implants also come in a variety of sizes.



One of the disadvantages of the gummy bear silicone breast implant is that of the incision needed for placement of the implant. It is limited to incisions made through the nipple, under the breast and the armpit because they come pre-filled and makes it more difficult to maneuver into place from longer distances. Another major disadvantage of this type of implant is the cost. The gummy bear implants tend to cost quite a bit more than that of other breast implants.
